The Spindrift is a modern backpacker hostel located in the heart of Weligama and just a few seconds walk to the surfers paradise of beautiful Weligama beach. Designed by backpackers for backpackers we have created a place with all the essentials a backpacker could need! We are all about comfort and atmosphere and offer a modern, clean and comfortable place to hang out and meet new friends from all over the world.
The Spindrift offers backpackers the choice of spacious doubles or sleek dorm rooms. The multiple chill out areas, balconies and outdoor spaces make it the perfect place to chill and share amazing travel experiences.
The awesome daily activities will mean you are never short of things to do and people to meet. Not to mention the retro gaming corner where you can battle it out to get your name on the leaderboard.
The hostel offers hot en-suite showers in every room, wifi, lockers, power point per bed, water re-fills and tea and a communal kitchen to help make you feel at home.

Loved this hostel with all my heart. Lovely people, very helpful staff, super social crew. Great place for solo travellers!!

Stay here if you’re looking to socialise in Weligama.
Met some cracking people and had some nice nights out. Best part is that there’s no pressure to do anything socially.
Great location in the middle of Weligama too.

There were great activities organised everyday and it was a very social hostel as long as you fit in.
Unfortunately the facilities were pretty bad, with no light by the beds, no curtains, a tiny bathroom and aircon that didn’t really work (that you have to pay extra for).
Overall I didn’t feel very comfortable socially or with the basic facilities, especially for the price and expectation due to the other reviews & ratings.
