The lodge has a mix of room styles. In the Main Wing, we have spacious dorm rooms (4 beds per room). These have two single beds and a set of bunks.
In the Surat Wing, we have budget and ensuite rooms. The ensuite rooms have new bathrooms and full linen, and come in twin, double and triples. In this wing you will find the TV room.
We have a large guest kitchen with fridges, freezer, microwaves, ovens and all the other bits and pieces including a large dining room. The spacious games room comes with a pool table, darts and piano, all free. We have two lovely sunrooms with free WIFI and a BBQ gazebo. The lodge comes with complimentary DVD hire.
In the sheltered garden area, we have 20 powered sites and 12 tent sites. These sites are close to the amenities and all campers are welcome to use the Lodge facilities. In the garden area, we have loads of outdoor seating.
If the weather is inclement, we are a great place to kick back and enjoy. Try our scooters in the 67 metre hallway!

The owner, is lovely and welcoming. However, unfortunately this was one of the worst places I’ve stayed in. There was mouldy food in the fridge, and I took my milk out the next morning for breakfast and it was room temperature. A converted hospital seemed a cool idea, but I think a lot of work needs to be done as everything was very old and everywhere had a musty smell with no atmosphere. Obviously this would take more money which is not always practical, especially with Covid.

This place was okay. Nothing to amazing about it. The beds were pretty comfortable and we did get upgraded to a private room which was nice. But the hot water didn’t work at all for one day and the wifi didn’t work on the side of the building we were on. Also it’s a very small town so there wasn’t to much to do.

Great little hostel, in a superb location, easy access to all the catlins area. Staff really friendly. Dorm rooms clean, though no key or lockers for rooms
