Explore Lower Dover’s 100 acres jungle trails, swim in natural pools/jungle rivers or relax in hammocks. We have good wifi for travel planning. Take 1 of our dogs for a walk on the trails.
LOWER DOVER ON SITE MAYA RUINS - PERSONAL TOUR ($ donation for 1-2 hour tour welcome) Ideal activity after returning from ATM Cave. Learn the history of Belize and Lower Dover, starting over1000 years ago.
LOCATION
Lower Dover's 100 acre, exotic jungle paradise is 1/2 mi /.8 km from the George Price (Western) Highway that connects Belize City with Guatemala. Located in Unitedville in the Cayo District, between Belmopan & San Ignacio (20 min by car), it’s a base camp for those traveling from the BZE international airport, the coast, cayes, Spanish Lookout or Tikal.(see Google Map for directions & to read our Google reviews)
CHECK IN 2-5:30pm Do not arrive at Lower Dover after dark without notice - It's a jungle out there! CHECK OUT: 10AM
*Bring earplugs & eye masks if you are a light sleeper. Lower Dover's sustainable farm animals & jungle birds make lots of noise
*If paying with a MC/Visa credit card, add 4% bank fee for processing
*We have 5 large, lovable dogs as our welcome committee, effective 4-legged security guards & trail guides. If you are afraid of dogs then Lower Dover is not for you. If you miss your dog then take one of our dogs on a jungle hike - they'd
love it! No worries on your jungle hike for single women travelers::our 4 legged bodyguards never get lost in the jungle!
CHECK IN TIME: 2-5pm. If you cannot arrive between 2-5pm then PLEASE TELL US so that we can arrange alternative check in services for you. This is very important for guests arriving from Guatemala on the shuttle in the morning.
FOOD
ARRIVAL NIGHT DINNER RESERVATION IS MADE AUTOMATICALLY FOR YOU. 15USD per person + 12.5% tax will be added at check out. Dinner is served at 6PM. If you Email food restrictions by 6pm the night before arrival. If you cannot make the 6pm dinner bell then PLEASE TELL US so that we can assume you've made other dinner plans. Breakfast ($7.50usd + tx). Additional breakfast/dinners are optional: There is no lunch service. We also have a public kitchen and small refrig if you wish to cook your own meals. There is a grocery store in our village.

Lower Dover was the place of our dreams! We originally booked a few nights here to do the ATM caves and then quickly realised this lodge offered so many other amazing activities. Some of the highlights were stargazing, medicinal plant trail and swimming in the rivers. But what made our stay here so wonderful was our lovely host Maddy! She made us feel so welcome and the home-cooked food was some of the best food we had all trip! It was so sweet preparing food and having dinner together. I could not recommen

Great location. Enjoyed a magical stay on an archaeological field station. Hosts were fabulous, meals were delicious! Be sure to take one of their sweet dogs into the jungle with you. Can't wait to come back!

Lower Dover was phenomenal in every way. From it having ancient Maya ruins to explore independently--well we did get a little map from Madeline, our knowledgable and friendly host-- to the tranquility and beauty of being situated in the rainforest, we had a wondrous time and wouldn't have chosen anywhere else to stay on the last leg of our trip. Madeline even drove us to the bus stop when we had to catch an early bus. The private room we stayed in was very cute. It had netting to from mosquitoes
