Rana Roja Lodge is an amazing and special place, hidden in the jungle where you can see and hear so much wildlife! The staff is friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet tasty (classic Costa Rican) and the rooms decent. You will need to take a taxi boat to access Tortuguero village but it is not inconvenient at all. First of all it is quite nice to escape the town center, but also the staff can call one and they come in five minutes (and the quick boat ride on the canal is always cool).

Friendly staff, nice place in nature, quick to get to town of Tortuguero with the Taxi, Little noisy because a lot of groups present, when many cellphones present in WiFi-Area, no more connection possible

The simple cabins are fine (it is a budget lodge rather and there are plenty of expensive alternatives if you want luxury) and the staff friendly and focussed. The lodge is let down by uncomfortable beds - if they would replace the mattresses it would really be a top pick.
