Blackwater Hostel

Blackwater Hostel first opened its doors back in 1999. Since then it has firmly established itself as one of the best hostels on the West Highland Way. Set in the scenic village of Kinlochleven, the hostel is surrounded by Mamore mountains and lies on the banks of the River Leven. It is perfectly situated just 200m from the village centre.

The Blackwater Hostel is a great base for outdoor enthusiasts or for a stopover when walking the West Highland Way. If walking is your thing there are numerous routes leaving from the village, ranging from low level to high level. There’s plenty Munro’s nearby to check off the list. Along with famous walks such as the Buachaille Etive Mor, The Lost Valley, Aonach Eagach Ridge, The Pap of Glencoe which are all just a short drive away. For those looking for an adrenaline rush there’s Vertical Descents based just around the corner who offer various watersports and Scotland’s first Via Ferrata. Here you can scale up the side of Grey Mare’s waterfall – Scotland’s third largest waterfall. There’s plenty around to keep you entertained on your trip whether it’s wet or dry!

The hostel boasts a fully equipped kitchen and eating area, with comfy sofa's and TV. Each private room has its very own bathroom with shower as well as a TV and bed linen included. At the rear of the building you will also find a drying room to help dry off your walking boots and jackets!

Cancellation policy - Groups of 6 or more 30 days notice required, groups of less than 6 we require 7 days notice.
If out with cancellation times, no refund or amendments can be processed.

Check in is available from 3pm and checkout of hostel 09:30am.

Payment upon arrival by cash, credit & debit cards.
This property may pre-authorize your card before arrival.

Reception hours 13:00 to 18:00.
Parking for all guests is available on site and is free of charge.
Baggage transfer service can operate from here.
Pets are allowed at a charge of £10.00 per day and must be pre-booked. 1 dog per room is permitted. Dogs should be kept on leads at all times when moving throughout the premises and are not permitted into the kitchen prep area.
Wireless internet is available and is free of charge.
There is no smoking permitted anywhere within the property.
Property operates on a self check in procedure after reception has closed, arrival details will be sent 2 days before arrival.
Towels should be pre-booked if required as will not be available after reception closes. £2 per towel.
