Our lovely building was built in the beginning of the 20th century, witnessing the organic relationship between Athens and neoclassical architecture. The building remained largely unused from 1970 until 2021. Our goal was to keep the neoclassical soul while adding a tropical vibe to it. After a year of renovations, Baloo Hostel opened its doors in the summer of 2022.
We have air-conditioning in all rooms and common areas for those warmer than average days or nights. You will have access card to enter your rooms. You can store your luggage below your beds and use your lock or rent one at the reception.
We offer 4 beds mixed and female dormitory with ensuite bathrooms as well as spacious dormitories that can comfortably accommodate 8 people and one private room for 2 people without ensuite bathroom.
Baloo Hostel Terms & Conditions:
Cancellation policy: 2 days before arrival. In case of a late cancellation or No Show, you will be charged the first night of your stay.
Check in
- from 14:00 to 23:00 during High Season (April-October)
- from 14:00 to 22:00 during Low Season (November-March).
Please advise us if you plan to check-in later.
Payment upon arrival by cash, credit & debit cards.
Taxes included

Great hostel! Truly a diamond in the rough. The quaint decoration and cozy feel really make for a welcoming experience.
Yes, the neighborhood looks really rough. However, the staff make sure to inform you on everything you need to know about how to stay safe and vigilant. Once you’ve spent a night or two here, it becomes very easy to phase out the “scary†surroundings.
Staff was absolutely splendid and had many recommendations for experiencing Athens!
Would stay here again :)

I stayed for 6 nights and had the best time. I met several amazing fellow travellers and we explored Athens together. The room was very comfortable and cleaned often. The kitchen area was open with a large table and chairs with options for coffee, tea, fruit and cucumber water. Games available (chess, cards, settlers) Very nice decor inside and outdoor seating which added to the amazing atmosphere, I would recommend staying here! The staff was also very friendly.
