The House of Black and White

The House of Black and White is a new and different hostel in Arusha, Tanzania. This elegant and cozy accommodation is situated only 1.2 km from the center of Arusha. Though is in town, the property is a green and quiet oasis. Its huge garden is full of trees and fruit tress. Based on the season, you can freely help yourself with avocados, lemons or other fruits. The green and peaceful garden is populated by a vast variety of birds, as well as small animals like squirrels and hedgehogs.

The House of Black and White has has a perimeter wall and a free in-gate parking space. There are several in and out lounging areas within the facility. The house is very modern and comes with a big dining room, a comfortable sitting room and a nice, well equipped kitchen that can be used by our guests. The house has 2 private rooms and 2 shared dorms. The 2 private rooms (with double beds each) and the dorm for 4 (with bunk beds) have their private bathrooms and big walking-through closets. The dorm for 2 is served by a newly build shared bathroom that is situated in the garden. On the hallway there is also a service bathroom. All the furniture in the house is new and it was design by us using black and white, just like the name of our hostel suggests. We used iron for a major cleanness and also recycled pallets, since cutting the trees is not a healthy practice. Hot showers are available in all the bathrooms and all the beds have mosquito nets.

We offer breakfast and for an additional fee, you can have lunch and dinner at the hostel. We mainly cook Tanzanian dishes, but also western and vegetarian, according to your requirements. Outside there is also a professional barbecue waiting for you.

Laundry and ironing service is available for a very small fee.

The house has a 24/7 Wi-Fi connection available on all the property. We can also help you to get a sim card for use when you move from the house.

We have staff with vast travel experience within the country that can advise you where to go based on your budget and your desire and can help find great deals on your next adventure in Tanzania and Zanzibar.

Cancellation policy: 48h before arrival. In case of a late cancellation or No Show, you will be charged the first night of your stay.
