Fujitatami Guesthouse in Izumi, south of Osaka, is run by a family of tatami (natural rush flooring often seen in temples and tea room) makers and we most welcome foreigners and world travelers.
We are located in a short distance to Kansai International Airport: from the closest Izumi-Chuo station there are direct limousine bus to/from the airport (Costs ¥1250.) On the contrary, you might find us a little far from Osaka city center, but still very accessible by train to Osaka Namba station.
Our guests are usually ones who are here for an authentic local Japanese town or countryside experience that is surrounded by parks and local shops. There are good connections to hiking routes in Nara and Wakayama, and you will love socialising with people in our neighborhood, trying local bars and food, away from the buzzing shopping malls. You are at home if you are up for a relaxing, peaceful atmosphere where its calm and welcoming.
We have 1 male dormitory, 1 female dormitory and 2 private rooms. Private room A can host up to 2 persons, and private room B can host up to 4 persons. Our building is a traditional house and tatami mats are used in all rooms, you will love your stay in wonderful Japanese style.
Additionally if you are an art lover, in our small factory next door we host an Airbnb experience workshop where you will see the demonstration of how tatami mats are made, as well as creating your own mini mat guided by a master tatami maker. If this is of interested please enquire with us and reserve a place in advance, we offer discounts to those who stay with us!)

Amazing guesthouse experience immersed in a peaceful town, and for such a good price! I arrived to a surprise hotpot cooked by the guesthouse hosts, with the other guests there. The living area is jam packed with cool items like a museum, and the bed space is comfortable with good privacy. Theres a good easy udon restaurant opposite, and a Lawsons, so you won’t be short of amenities. It’s fairly easy to get to Osaka every day if you like. I would highly recommend this place!!! It’s a bit further from the city but perfect for a little break to relax and enjoy the local spots. The owners Issey and Kanna were sooo lovely and welcoming

This is a very welcoming place to stay at. For me I chose this place because I wanted to wind down, experience Japan in a different way, experience local life and seeing how it is to live in Japan. They are also a tatami making family. I got more than what I was asking for. Issay and his wife Kana are very kind hosts, and their hospitality fills my heart.
In short, this is a perfect stay away from the constant city life, a perfect place to learn Japanese culture, enjoy nature and suburban life
