You can also book tours in and around Puerto Viejo and arrange all your transportation through Caribe Shuttle Tours, located within Rocking J’s Hostel. The onsite bar and restaurant, Good Vibes, serves up delicious eats in the morning and atl night and you’re sure to strike up a conversation with a fellow traveller while enjoying a beer or cocktail in this lively bar.
We are located in one of the most privilege places of Costa Rica, Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, in the province of Limon. It is a really popular destination for backpackers and sufers as well as for venturesome people. Nearby there are two beautiful National Parks nearby Cahuita and Manzanillo. In addition, our location, within this natural wonder of Costa Rica, is really near to the beach and to the most relevant tourist attractions in town such as restaurants, coffee shops and nightlife bars and discotheques. Also, it is quite handy to reach supermarkets and other shops from our position as well as getting Chiquita and Punta Uva beaches.

FUNKY. Rocking J seems to kind of run itself. Positives: sweet access to the jungle trail along the beach and to town, complete with howler monkeys, poison frogs, big ass spiders, etc. Downside: the staff hates you. Hard to tell who's staying there, who works there, and who gave up on the rest of the world to camp there until the Apocalypse. But there is hot water in the showers!

The reception staff could have been a lot friendlier. I saw and spoke to multiple travellers staying here, and they spoke of the same unfriedliness and unhelpful reception staff. I felt like I was being treated like a child and not a guest. The kitchen was the worst I've experienced and the bathroom facilities were not private enough, just a shower cubicle to shower and change in and a basin out in the open. It's was great to have the tent option, and next to the beach was great.

Disgusting stained sheets in the room. Did not even stay the night. Asked for a refund and left.
